The name "Lesung" itself holds a special meaning. In Bahasa Melayu, the native language of Malaysia, it translates to "mortar and pestle." And it's this simple yet evocative tool that lies at the heart of Lesung's philosophy.

For Chef Eden Daus (Lesung’s Atuk), a native of Klang, the batu lesung is more than just a kitchen utensil. It's a symbol of heritage, a link to his ancestors who poured their love and time into grinding fresh herbs and spices, transforming simple ingredients into vibrant dishes that warmed hearts and brought families together.

This, Chef Daus realized, was the essence he wanted to capture in Lesung. He envisioned a restaurant that wasn't just about serving food, but about sharing a story, a culture, a way of life.

And so, Lesung was born.

Chef Eden

Hailing from Klang (born in 1997), Chef Eden Daus' culinary journey ignited at age 10 when a simple cheese toast and coffee for his mom sparked an undeniable passion.

Witnessing her pride, he plunged into a world of diverse flavors, earning gold medals during his culinary education. Inspired by Chef Ferran Adria, he embraces a molecular gastronomy twist in his creations. A stint at Nadodi KL, one of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants, ignited his love for Malaysian cuisine, where he discovered traditional spices. Aunty Aini, a culinary powerhouse who famously schooled Gordon Ramsay on rendang, became a role model for boldly showcasing Malaysian cuisine.

Now, as the proud owner of Lesung Saigon, Chef Eden Daus aims to elevate Malaysian cuisine and culture onto the international stage.
